Man, I love computers... I
don't know why. Maybe it's because they allow you
to communicate, to share ideas, to better
understand the world. Or maybe I'm addicted and/or
I have nothing better to do than sit there staring
at a box. Who's to tell?
My Computer
For anyone who's
interested, I have a Power Mac 7100/66 with 88 MB
built-in memory, OS9, a zip drive, cd-rom, floppy,
a black&white digital camera, a couple of
speakers, mouse, keyboard, moniter, external 500MB
hard drive (on which I'm currently trying to
install MkLinux), I have a cable modem via
@home,
pretty standard stuff.
MkLinux
At the moment, I'm trying to install
MkLinux
on my spare disk.. Rather, I'm trying to
reinstall it. You see, I had it going, but
one day I was in super-user mode (root) trying to
figure something out, and I launched xwindows.
Well, you know that little toolbar at the bottom of
the scrren? Well, it wasn't there. I couldn't
access any programs, and I couldn't logout. I even
tried opening a terminal, but all I maneged to do
was make it so that the only thing on the screen
was the cursor. I tried cntrl-c, which is supposed
to solve all, but to no avail. The only thing I
could think of was to just switch the power
off.
Progging
Adding to the list of things I'm trying to
do, I'm trying to learn C++. It's going pretty
well. I can make a few basic programs (HelloWorld,
numeric menus, and such) and am presently trying to
figure out "arrays". The book I'm using isn't very
good . . . . I can't even figure out what the
damned things are for. :-|
